3D printed Secondary mirror holder for 114mm Newtonian telescope

If you are thinking of modifying your Newtonian telescope, the first thing you will find on Google and YouTube videos is how to replace your secondary spider for 150mm or 130mm telescopes. That's great, you go to printables.com or thingverse.com, download a suitable model for your telescope and 3D print it.

But if you have smaller telescope, good luck. There are no 3D models for small Newtonians. At least I have not found any. So I decided to design my own. I used the 3D modeling software Fusion360, and creating the 3D model of the secondary spider was a breeze.

My telescope is Celestron Firstscope 114 EQ. If you own a similar telescope, there is a possibility that the model will fit your telescope as well. The model was designed from scratch. After I modeled it, I printed it on paper to see if mesuarements were correct and when I was satisfied, I uploaded it to Craftcloud, select materials and submited my order. After a week or so 3D printed model arrived and I could not be happier with quality and great fit to my telescope.

Here are some pictures of the final 3D print:

If you need detailed instructions how to install secondary mirror holder, I suggest you to wisit excelent article by Michael from www.backyard-universe.de.

Model is avaliable for download on printables.com and on thingiverse.com.
